The police department’s “independent” inquiry and criminal investigation that followed my confession of perjury have long been concluded — problem now being that police have refused all my requests for the reports and their findings.

Until now I’ve been content to quietly work quietly with the Ombudsman’s office, appealing to have those findings released — quietly, that is, until the Minister of Police, Anne Tolley, appeared on national television Saturday night and assured New Zealanders we could have “absolute” confidence in the transparency of our police department investigating themselves.

‘Undercover Policing’

A Psychiatrist’s Perspective

This paper on undercover agents in the New Zealand Police was published by the International Journal of Law and Psychiatry. Its author, Dr A.D. (Sandy) Macleod, is New Zealand’s pre-eminent clinical expert on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, PTSD, having worked with veterans from the Vietnam, Korean and Second World wars.

At the time he wrote this paper, Dr Macleod was a consulting psychiatrist for the Undercover Programme and he acknowledges that the paper is therefore subjective — in addition to which, the study only involved a relatively small sample of agents (collectively known as The USED Group). That said, his work remains to provide us with a small yet useful insight into the world of an undercover agent:

Update No. 25 / ~ Information Request:

Five years ago today, I wrote to Dame Sian Elias, the Chief Justice of New Zealand, and confessed telling lies in court to obtain convictions against my targets  while working as an agent-provocateur for the Crown.

So — here we are, one independent inquiry, an evidential interview, plus a criminal investigation later — what’s been happening in Wellington?

More grist for the mill with news this week that New Zealand Police have been judged guilty of a “significant deceit” when caught out telling lies to the Court. In his damning 20-page decision (PDF), Justice Simon France described police actions as a “fraud against the Courts”.

There’s nothing unique about police telling lies in court (see the USED Group for instance) — but what sets this case apart is the ease with which police moved to “justify” their criminal wrong-doing.

Police Association president, Gregory (I’ve never used drugs) O’Connor, issued this press release, an example of the breathtaking contempt that police members hold for our Rule of Law.

While Martyn Bradbury does a good job in this post of disassembling O’Connor’s cant, and Chris Trotter provides us with a timely reminder that “when policemen break the law, then there isn’t any law – just a struggle for survival,” — this post from Lauda-Finem makes the case that New Zealand Police are systemically corrupt.

News this week that the Government’s Communications Security Bureau (GCSB) has been spying illegally may have surprised some New Zealanders. It shouldn’t have, for, other than their target being Kim Dotcom, there is nothing particularly unique about this case — the New Zealand Government has been spying illegally on its own citizens for many years. Update No. 23 / ~ “Cover-up” (a letter to the Queen)

●  On 20 August 2012 the police department wrote wanting me to provide them with a “supplementary statement” –  for their “criminal investigation” — and so here it is . . .

5 September 2012:

It is nearly five years now since I wrote to the Chief Justice and confessed telling lies in court to obtain convictions against my targets while working as an undercover officer and agent-provocateur for the Crown. Since then, I have fully cooperated with the police department’s self-styled “independent” inquiry — admitted criminal liability for my offending, stated I will plead guilty to any charges, and have also provided police with an evidential interview where I made a full and frank admission of my offending.

So — tick~tock~tick~tock — what’s the delay? Why haven’t I been arrested?

Huh, it turns out the police department now want me to come in and have . . . a “talk” . . .

For the sake of transparency, I wrote to the department’s criminal investigator (yea, they’ve had an “inquiry” — now they’re having an “investigation”) asking that he formulate in writing what it is the police wished to say to me, and, further, to put in writing any more questions they might have of me. The department has refused, saying they need to “discuss” these matters with me and create a “supplementary” statement.

Yep, same-old same-old, Déjà vu, for I recognise this as being the part where my revelations are written off, covered up and buried — as has happened before, with the USED Group being one notable example.

Well, I’m not having any of it and I’ve written to Her Majesty the Queen, today’s date, advising I will not be party to a cover-up of my own offending — nor will I play any further role in this corrupt perversion being conducted by the police department.
